High protein diet & needs supplements to help increase fat loss & keep muscles. BCAA- branch chain amino acids?
I am a 37 yo female who is dieting and have been very sucessful thus far losing 30 lbs. I do high intensity aerobics twice a week, light weight lifting, yoga once a week and dance class once a week. I heard that since I am eating a high protein diet, watching my calories, and exercising I may benefit from BCAA (branch chained amino acids) They said it would help melt the fat off while keeping my muscle. Is there any supplement I can take in addition to what I am already doing to increase my results? Is it true about the BCAA?
BCAAs are mostly taken around a workout to prevent muscle loss and increase recovery.
its basically a type of protein, like a “super protein”
the indirect effects however, would lead towards some fat loss.
it’s pretty expensive, if you are using the recommended 5-10grams around a workout. a 300g container of the powder costs around 40 bucks or more.
you will problem get a better benefit from a high quality fish oil supplement, capsule or liquid. something with really high DHA and EPA. these fatty acids along with ALA from flax seeds and walnuts help a lot with fat loss and generally everything in your body.
also a multivitamin works, and protein powder.
after that, if you still have some extra cash laying around, than BCAAs would be the next effective supplement.
